Only three elk have had an official SCI score of at least 500", KING, IMPRESSIVE and KING KONG, and all three elk were produced by the same elk ranch, the Sand Hill Ranch, SHR, owned by Sharon and the late Merle Krogedal of Froid Montana.
King was the first bull to cross the 500" mark with an official SCI score of 506 1/8" at ten years of age placing first at the International Antler Competition in 2001. King is also the heaviest velvet antler producing bull with an official velvet weight of 50.98 lbs. at eight years of age placing first at the International Antler Competition in 1999.
King is the sire of both Impressive and King Kong.
King Kong had an official SCI score of 543 5/8" at the age of seven placing first at the International Antler Competition in 2004.
Impressive had an official SCI score of 519 0/8" at the age of seven placing first at the International Antler Competition in 2005.
While there may be other bloodlines, someday, to reach this 500" mark, no other bloodline has yet produced even one, let alone three.
